Elk Foundation volunteers participate in a number of conservation education and hunting heritage activities through their local chapters. Each chapter selects their own activities based on our conservation education and hunting heritage goals. Most youth events include hands-on experiences and an outdoor skills training component with a strong conservation message woven in.

Because our volunteers are involved in so many different types of youth programs, it is impossible to provide a complete list. Some examples include:

  • Calf Camps – currently held in CA, NV, OR, AZ and WA
  • Youth Mentoring Hunts
  • Expos that have special kids’ activities
  • Youth outdoor days in AK, MD and ID
  • Scout events
  • Shooting clinics
  • Safety vests funded by Elk Foundation State Grants (10 states have participated to date)

Chapter involvement in these activities drives the conservation and hunting messages home through one-on-one mentoring, in-depth knowledge and real-life experiences in elk country. These programs provide an excellent vehicle for delivering high-quality experiences that can have significant positive impacts on children’s lives.
