What's That On Your Head?

Some wild animals grow horns. Some grow antlers. Do you know the differences?

Horns:
• Made of bony core with covering of keratin, the same material that your fingernails are made of
Grow slowly and never shed, permanent for animal's entire life
Don't branch
Both males and females grow horns
Grow annual rings, which can tell how old the animal is

Antlers:
Made of fast-growing bone
Shed and regrow every year
Often branched
Number of points does not equal age
Only males grow antlers (except in caribou, where females will grow small antlers)

Mark the animals that have horns with an "H" and the animals that have antlers with an "A." Then fill the animals' names (that are underlined) into the crossword puzzle below.
