Where Else Can You Get a Ninefold Return on Your Dollar?
The Elk Foundation has always pushed to get the most bang on the ground for every buck raised. Thanks to great partners and hard work, we took that commitment to new heights this year. For every dollar the Elk Foundation invested in a conservation project, our partners amplified it with eight more.
The Elk Foundation works closely state and federal agencies on prescribed burns, noxious weed spraying and many other habitat projects. Matching funds help springboard these efforts to the top of agencies’ priority lists.
This year already, the Elk Foundation has awarded more than $1.2 million in grants to support 121 projects to create healthier habitat for elk and other wildlife. We’re working hard to match these funds with partners to deliver $10 million to benefit habitat.
Elk Foundation policy requires that its grants be matched by another and that all of its donated funds be used “on the ground,” prohibiting the use of allocated funds for overhead and administrative costs.
These partnerships clearly make our members dollars’ reach further. With a thicker pocketbook, our Project Advisory Committees can undertake larger, multi-year projects that have a greater impact on elk country.
The fuel for this machine comes largely from RMEF banquets. Thanks goes out to all who attend and put money toward conservation through these events. Without your generosity the partnerships and resulting benefits would not be possible.
