From the moment you enter Johnny Morris’ Wonder of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium on Friday, you will sense a celebration of conservation. Every step along the way focuses on the importance of land and water stewardship. The tour begins with a glimpse behind the inspiration of Johnny Morris’ life-long dedication to conservation, shared in his own words.
The sights and sounds throughout the three-hour experience reflect one man’s vision of what we can all do to make sure elk, other wildlife, their habitat and our hunting heritage are strong today and for the future.
Bass Pro Shops-Cabela’s, are proud corporate partners of RMEF that continue to support our mission with funding for on-the-ground conservation work.
A private dinner and RMEF program will take place in the Shipwreck Room in the Aquarium. Once there, RMEF’s story comes to life with a presentation focusing on our conservation accomplishments while looking to the future and how more mission will take place with your help.
The Ozark Mountains are well-known for more than 6,000 massive caves and caverns throughout the “Show-Me State.” One of them is less than 10 miles from Springfield. The Fantastic Caverns, as they’re called, are the only ride-through caverns in the United States. On Saturday, the propane-powered Jeep-drawn trams will venture through the caverns discovered by John Knox’s hunting dog in 1862. The first known explorers were a group of 12 ladies who belonged to the Springfield Women’s Athletic Club in 1867.
These majestic caverns are breathtaking!
Saturday evening will be a time to share your wildlife conservation stories as we dine in the Sportsman’s Lodge across the street from our host hotel, Bass Pro Shops Angler’s Lodge.

A trifecta of tours encompasses this unique experience with Pennsylvania’s Elk Country serving as the event’s main cornerstone.
From our host hotel, the Cobblestone Inn, step into premiere elk country as we venture into the autumn-colored habitat where wild wapiti roam the steep mountains and deep valleys of north-central Pennsylvania. The crisp fall air not only accentuates the perfect time to catch the majestic colors of the landscape, but it also allows for the clarity of hearing the call of a bugling bull elk.
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation has a strong presence in this pristine area. It is here that we will witness the benefits of RMEF funding—from land acquisitions creating more public lands to assisting with enhanced forage for the elk.
A private dinner and RMEF presentation on Thursday evening at Red Fern will highlight the future needs for your continued support of elk, other wildlife, their habitat and our hunting heritage.
For those adventurous souls, an early morning elk viewing outing is available for Friday before we visit two of RMEF’s corporate partners – Zippo Lighter and Case Knife. Both companies are opening their factory doors in Bradford, Pennsylvania, for exclusive tours of their operations. Both will share their manufacturing processes from start to finish. These exclusive tours are not open to the public at any time. This memorable experience will include a stop at the Zippo/Case Museum and factory store.
Our time together will conclude with a private dinner and an opportunity to share with each other the legacy you plan to leave for elk and elk country.
