Paso Robles, California
May 4-5, 2017
Paso Robles, California, is the perfect setting for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s Step Up in the Oaks May 4-5, 2017. We’d like to personally invite you to join us for two days packed full of special activities in the heart of California’s Central Coast.
Step Up in the Oaks highlights those who are leaving a Legacy whether in conservation, the hunting industry or through their families’ businesses. Visits to Weatherby’s headquarters, Steinbeck winery, Pasolivo Ranch and Limerock Orchard, all of which are family owned and operated, will help illustrate unique generational companies. We’ll also focus on our love for wildlife and reiterate the urgency to help secure its future for those who follow in our family footsteps.
We will be leaving our host hotel, the Paso Robles Inn located in the heart of the city’s historic downtown, promptly at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 4th, to privately tour the factory of one of RMEF’s corporate partners, Weatherby, Inc. This once in a lifetime opportunity will showcase the Weatherby story beginning in the mid-1940s when a young cartridge “wildcatter” named Roy Weatherby set out to change the world of firearm performance. This American tale continues as his family carries on his entrepreneurial spirit.
Just down the road from Weatherby we will tour, dine and do a little wine tasting at a seventh-generation vineyard. Since its origin in 1884, the Steinbeck Vineyards & Winery family has continued the fine, pioneering tradition through their elegant wines. The oldest living Steinbeck, Howie, is a RMEF member who knows the importance of leaving a legacy for future generations.
Friday morning, we’ll travel through the rolling hills and valleys of the Paso Robles countryside making stops at Pasolivo Ranch and Limerock Orchard. We’ll learn the interesting details of the production of olive and walnut oils and artisan products, and be treated to samples in each facility’s tasting room.
You will have the afternoon to tour Hearst Castle, more wineries or downtown Paso Robles before returning to the Paso Robles Inn for our reception, dinner and gathering Friday evening. We’ll enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the patio before our gathering and dinner in the Matador room.
Friday evening is a truly special time as we share stories of the humble beginnings of the Elk Foundation and then turn our attention to the current RMEF happenings. Finally, each one of us will learn how we can help continue the fulfillment of RMEF’s mission, listening to the Elk Foundation’s priority projects and goals.
With the future of elk in our hands, this exclusive experience affords you the opportunity to step up your financial support of RMEF while having fun along the way with a group of like-minded folks.
We hope to see you there! Together we can make a difference.
