‘Tis the Season: Celebrating a Successful RMEF Hunter and Outdoor Christmas
By Kirk Murphy, RMEF Vice President of Western Operations
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Hunter and Outdoor Christmas Expo was a sight to behold this past December. There was something for every member of the family to see and do. Located in South Halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center, Hunter Christmas was held during the 10 days of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo on December 1-10, 2016, in conjunction with Cowboy Christmas.
Hundreds of exhibitors featured the latest hunting gear, firearms, optics, trips, western art and décor and more. Walking through the exhibit hall, you could see the newest trucks from Chevy, the latest side-by-sides from Polaris and Yamaha and a host of other outdoor industry products.
New features this year included the MTN OPS Shootout—Ultimate Archery Experience and the Realtree Live Stage. At the MTN OPS Shootout, you could test your bow skills and potentially win cash prizes and year-long bragging rights. Cooking demonstrations and live musical performances from the likes of Easton Corbin, Daryle Singletary and other country music artists graced the Realtree Live Stage. Every day you could also see Junior National Finals Rodeo events in the Wrangler Rodeo Arena.
At the RMEF Membership booth, you could purchase raffle tickets for almost $100,000 in prizes that were given away on the last day of the show, including a New Holland tractor and a Yamaha side-by-side. You could also renew your RMEF membership or become a new member—maybe even a life member—and at the RMEF Trading Post you could purchase select firearms and RMEF merchandise. The six magnificent bulls that will make up the 2017 Great Elk Tour were on display, as well as the full 2016 Great Elk Tour truck and trailer.
If you missed Hunter Christmas last month, put it on your calendar for December 2017 and plan to attend for a few days. It promises to be bigger and better than ever.
