MidwayUSA Foundation Sponsorship Key to 2012 Banquet Program
The MidwayUSA Foundation has generously supported the RMEF for many years, and 2012 was no exception. MidwayUSA sponsored the Banquet Edition Hunting Heritage Rifle Set, which included a Browning BLR in a .270 Win, a Browning BL-22, and a hard-sided double rifle case complete with the RMEF logo. This unique set was sent to all RMEF chapters at no cost and played a vital role in chapter fundraising.
Larry and Brenda Potterfield established the nonprofit MidwayUSA Foundation in 2007 to provide financial support for education and training in shooting, hunting, firearms safety and outdoor skills. In 2008, MidwayUSA launched the Scholastic Shooting Trust Fund (SSTF) to provide funding to university, college or high school programs.
“The future of wildlife conservation and the promotion of the hunting and shooting sports lies in the future decisions of the young folks in school today,” says Larry Potterfield. “Supporting organizations like the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and investing more money in youth programs will allow our future leaders to make these decisions tomorrow and for years to come.”
As a gesture of gratitude to Larry and Brenda for their generous support of RMEF over the years—which also includes sponsoring the Model 1895 Teddy Roosevelt Safari Set—RMEF enthusiastically agreed to partner with the SSTF to promote qualified school shooting programs. Since 2011, RMEF has distributed a total of 79 endowments to high school, college and club shooting teams in 36 states, donating more than $790,000 to the SSTF.
“We are very grateful for the vision and support Larry and Brenda Potterfield continue to provide RMEF and other conservation groups,” says RMEF vice president of marketing Steve Decker. “They are truly making a difference for hunting and shooting sports across the United States.”
