RMEF Volunteers Rep Conservation at Cowboy Christmas
By Kirk Murphy, RMEF Vice Present of Western Operation
While the RMEF Hunter and Outdoor Christmas Expo drew crowds upstairs at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Elk Foundation’s presence could also be felt downstairs. RMEF’s booth at Cowboy Christmas during the ten days of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in early December was a hit with rodeo fans and attendees. Visitors had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for almost $100,000 worth of raffle prizes. Grand prizes included a New Holland tractor, Yamaha side-by-side and a Polaris Ranger. Weatherby rifles were also raffled off every day of the ten-day show.
Tireless volunteers and staff manned the booth over the course of ten days, selling the message of conservation as well as raffle tickets. Dedicated volunteers sold RMEF life memberships, sponsor memberships and supporting memberships to brand new members and many renewing members. RMEF staff members were on hand to answer questions about the organization and to discuss elk and elk country, and RMEF board member Randy Newburg stopped by the booth multiple times to spend time with Elk Foundation members.
