Volunteer Success in Vegas: Two Personal Testimonials
RMEF has been selling memberships and raffle tickets at Cowboy Christmas for the last eight years. Every year, it just keeps getting better and better.
One reason that it continues to get better is the dedication of volunteers who work it. We have some of the most upbeat and personable folks who are not afraid to take “NO” as an answer, but refuse to accept it!
If an individual walks up to the booth with little to no interest or another person demands to become a life member, we treat them all the same—with respect! The traffic flow is often quite crowded, so it is necessary to literally draw the people from the herd, if you will, and convince them that they need that gun as it gets placed into their hands!
The fact that anyone who signs up as a member can get a free knife and a free Cabela’s gift card is great incentive. Anyone who signs up as a sponsor member can win a gun. Anyone who signs up as a life member and then puts in for an upgrade is guaranteed a gun, and can win a sponsor gun as well.
Grand Junction Chapter
Repeat members come back and look for us each year, and we really look forward to meeting and getting to know our newest RMEF members, too. Those friends and relationships we have made with the attendees of the NFR, Cowboy Christmas and this year at Elk Camp indicate that we are part of a very worthwhile organization and our efforts reach across the globe.
I would also add that our RMEF team is a family made up of people from across many states, each with wonderful talents and exceptional personalities. These friendships only make us a more awesome team. We are able to challenge ourselves as we are surrounded by the “best of best” to better our fundraising efforts at the NFR and in our own local chapters.
Connie and I appreciate the opportunity we have had and hope to continue for many years to come.
