The Elk Foundation’s Great Elk Tour is a one-of-a-kind display of the world’s largest and most impressive bull elk -- like the 394-6/8 gross Pope & Young bull (pictured above) that Dallen Baugh arrowed in Utah’s 2004 season. If you have a trophy that is truly world-class and are interested in showing it in the Great Elk Tour, we would like to hear from you!

What we are looking for

  • Around 400 point and higher Boone & Crockett, Pope & Young and SCI (fair-chase) bulls
  • Trophy antlers with very unusual characteristics
  • State Records
  • All-Time Records
  • World Records
  • Monster sheds from wild elk
  • Pickups of big, wild bulls killed by natural causes

We are not interested in replicas. All hunter-killed bulls and all sheds and pickups must be from wild, free-ranging elk, and must have been harvested or obtained in a legal, ethical and sporting manner.

What we offer
Hunters and outdoor enthusiasts who participate in the Great Elk Tour help us ensure a future for elk country and our outdoor heritage. As a way to show our gratitude, we offer a free, world-class elk shoulder mount to those who loan their antlers for an Elk Tour season. All taxidermy is completed by Dennis Shoemaker of Deer Lodge, Montana, who has mounted more world record, state record and world-class bulls than any other taxidermist. Dennis uses competition-quality McKenzie forms, eyes and ears for each mount. Each bull is mounted 100 percent anatomically correct and with the highest attention to detail.

We prefer to have Dennis mount each bull in the display. However, if your bull is already mounted, please feel free to contact us at the numbers below and we’ll be happy to discuss some workable options with you.

Dennis is a certified measurer for several record-keeping organizations, including Boone & Crockett, and helps lenders score and enter their bull if desired.

Each bull is fully insured at an agreed upon rate between the lender and the Elk Foundation, and is transported in a top-of-the-line truck and trailer.

Lenders receive recognition on signs displayed with their bull and on the Elk Tour website, and we can provide professional digital photos of the mounted bulls upon request. Each bull will be viewed by hundreds of thousands of outdoor enthusiasts across the country, inspiring them to help us support habitat conservation.
