Bugle Magazine Photo Submission Guidelines

All photographers making submissions to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and its publication, Bugle, must comply with the terms and conditions listed below. These terms and conditions supersede any terms and conditions submitted or offered by the contributor at the time of submission.

General Terms and Conditions
• All submissions, unless approved otherwise, are sent at the expense of the contributor.

• The Elk Foundation does not agree to any contracts, delivery notices, or statements of value included in a submission. The maximum replacement cost for damaged or lost slides will be the fair market value of the specific slide(s) at issue. Any replacement cost will be negotiated at the time of damage or loss.

• The Elk Foundation does not return digital submissions, nor is it liable for discarded or lost CDs, digital files or any prints from these digital files that may accompany a submission.

• The Elk Foundation agrees to one-time North American rights for each image selected for publication, unless additional rights are negotiated with the contributor and agreed in writing.

Slides
• For color photo submissions, the Elk Foundation accepts original (not duplicated) 35 mm or larger transparencies only.

• Each slide must have the contributor’s name and a code number for identification.

• A printed list of slide names and numbers must accompany every submission.

• No more than twenty (20) images per submission.

• The Elk Foundation is not responsible for submissions we did not receive or submissions damaged while in transit to the Elk Foundation.

• Return of your slides is important to us. Provide your shipping address (no P.O. boxes, please) at the time of submission to ensure delivery by traceable shipping methods.

Submissions
• The minimum allowable resolution for photos in all Elk Foundation publications is 300 ppi (pixels per inch).

• When submitting digital images for review, please send low resolution JPEG file(s) via our FTP site, CD or email. Up to 5 low resolution images will be accepted via email. Submitting via our FTP site (see information below) is preferred.

• If we select your photo(s) we will request high resolution images from you.

• Camera RAW format taken with an 8 mega pixel camera or higher is preferred for high resolution digital images.

• When submitting prints or slides, send the original. No duplications or non-photographic (ink jet or laser) prints please. Once received, we will scan your original to our printing specifications.
