As chapters hosted banquets, special raffles, membership drives and sports show booths in 2006, they also improved their event efficiency by almost 2 percent over the previous year, enroute to $13,868,000 in event fundraising. That boost in net-to-gross meant an additional $197,000 available for mission programs.
Leading the way in total chapter activity, Tucson, Ariz., netted $256,049, while the Salt Lake City Chapter had the highest-netting single event with $218,452. Of the chapters holding first events in 2006, Kerrville, Texas, took top honors with $40,623 in total chapter activity. Six Western states topped the million-dollar fundraising mark in 2006—Montana, Wyoming, California, Oregon, Washington and Colorado—the most states ever topping $1 million during a calendar year, and in 2007, Oregon already topped the $1 million mark in the month of April.
Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Chapter topped the $2 million mark in 2005, and so far is the only chapter to raise more than $2 million. However, chapters in Phoenix, Ariz., Little Rock, Ark., and Lewiston, Idaho, are closing in on the $2 million mark. Where will your chapter land on this list for 2007? To find out, see the K-Club List, which is available to view as pdf documents in two different ways — chapters listed by state or chapters listed by their cumulative net.
