Hunters seeking to chase elk in California have until midnight on June 2, 2017, to apply. Additionally, hunters may seek bighorn sheep, deer and pronghorn.
Any hunter under the age of 18 qualifies for a junior hunting license. Those aged 12 or older as of July 1, 2017, may also apply for apprentice deer, elk and pronghorn hunts. Hunters must be at least 16 years of age on July 1 to apply for bighorn sheep tags.
