Elk NetworkSix Bull Elk Poached in Northern Utah

General | March 4, 2020

Authorities in Utah need your help finding who is responsible for illegally shooting and killing six bull elk in the Knob Hill area of Park City east of Salt Lake City. Poachers left all six animals to waste.

Residents routinely see a herd of large, adult bull elk but called the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) when it appeared there were not as many as previously. Conservation officers investigated and found the carcasses spread over the area. They consider five of the bulls large enough to be designated as “trophy-size animals” meaning each has a minimum restitution value of $8,000 under Utah state code.

If you have any information about suspicious activity on or around Bitner Road where the poaching took place, call 1-800-662-3337 or 801-476-2740. A reward may be available.

For 2020, Remington partnered with RMEF to increase the visibility of poaching incidents in an effort to reduce poaching nationwide.
