The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), the state agency tasked with managing fish and game within the state borders, may need to increase the cost hunting and fishing licenses as well as receive more state general fund money to balance its budget.
According to the Spokesman Review, WDFW has a $30 million budget shortfall. In addition to applying spending cuts, one possibility to help the situation is to increase all WDFW-related licenses by 12 to 15 percent. An additional proposal would include a $10 annual fee for all WDFW customers.
