Given the snowy conditions at the time, traffic was pretty light along remote Red Pepper Road in northeast Oregon but the cross-traffic was brutal. An estimated 700 elk suddenly bolted across the roadway in Oregon’s Grande Ronde Valley.

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife biologists always have their eye on wildlife populations. They’re also working to address increased big game damage on lower elevation private lands due to the harsh winter conditions.
