Elk NetworkPublic Input Sought on Delisting NCDE Grizzlies

Conservation | August 28, 2018

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks wants to know what you think about delisting the grizzly bear population within the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem (NCDE) found in northwest Montana. Those interested in submitting public comment can do so via email or by attending a public hearing.

Approximately 1,000 bears live within the NCDE.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation maintains that grizzly bears should be managed by state wildlife agencies just as they manage elk, mountain lions, deer and other wildlife. RMEF plans to officially submit a comment on the plan.

The Department of Interior previously announced the delisting of the grizzly population in the Greater Yellowstone Area.
