A new report indicates the total impact of the firearms and ammunition industry on the American economy increased by 169 percent from 2008 to 2017.

Not only did the impact increase from $19.1 billion to $51.4 billion over that time, but the number of full-time jobs the industry supports increased by 87 percent, from 166,000 to nearly 310,000.

Data from the National Shooting Sports Foundation report also shows the amount of Pittman-Robertson excise taxes that support wildlife conservation increased by 104 percent over that same time period.  Pittman-Robertson funding is generated from an 11 percent excise tax on all guns, ammunition and archery equipment.
