Conservation | November 2, 2017

In recognition of its work in support of sportsmen’s legislative issues, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation received the “Friends of NASC” award at the 14th Annual National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC) Sportsman-Legislator Summit in Acme, Michigan.

Jeff Crane, president of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, presented the award to Mark Lambrecht, RMEF director of government affairs.

RMEF received the recognition for its leadership in establishing the Montana Sportsmen’s Caucus in the Montana Legislature, which has a goal of bringing legislative leaders together to learn about issues important to sportsmen and women, work together in a bipartisan manner to address those issues and send a message to the rest of the nation that hunting, fishing and trapping are core values and a way of life in Montana. RMEF was also recognized for its longstanding support for sportsmen’s issues across the country.

The NASC Summit included informative sessions on hunter and angler recruitment, retention and reactivation; an overview of firearm and ammunition sales impact on conservation funding; 2018 Farm Bill reauthorization; active forest management; protecting waterways from invasive species; and other important issues facing America’s hunters and anglers.
