No good deed should go unrecognized, especially when it comes to quality conservation work. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation recently recognized one of its partners for a just-completed conservation project in Montana.
RMEF presented an Elk Country Legacy Award to the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) for the Green Mountain project, a 620-acre inholding within the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. The property was previously privately-owned but is now permanently protected and opened for hunters, hikers and others to access and enjoy.
The presentation took place at the RMEF Giant Springs Big Game Banquet.
The USFS praised the RMEF for its involvement and also presented a special gift to landowner Dan Barrett for his patience and willingness to make another transaction, the Falls Creek project, a reality.
