Authorities on Vancouver Island are asking for tips in finding the person(s) responsible for poaching a bull elk with a crossbow. It happened on Highway 18 just west of Skutz Falls.
“It was just left there,” Robin Sano, conservation officer, told the Cowichan Gazette. “This has become an almost weekly occurrence. We expect the elk was shot at night because there is less traffic on the highway.”
Poachers shot and killed other elk including four just one month earlier.
