Elk NetworkWatch: Rescuing Ailing Wildlife

You see it again and again. When wildlife is in trouble, it’s those who love wildlife that come to the rescue. And more often than not, rescuers come in the form of biologists, wardens and others who work for state wildlife agencies.

The video above shows how officers with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) worked to remove a piece of fencing from the neck of a young deer.

The video below shows IDFG officers free a mule deer fawn caught in a barbwire fence.

IDFG receives hundreds of calls every year from concerned citizens who report similar situations. The most common problems involve loose wire, unkempt fences and wrought ironed fence spires.
