Elk NetworkYoungsters Make Sweet Music at Elk Bugling Competition

No it wasn’t the World Elk Calling Championships, but it was a celebration of elk and elk calling by young callers who stood tall in the competitive spotlight.

“Some big cities have symphonies, and we have bugling,” Phil Stubblefield told the Craig Daily Press.

Stubblefield organized the first-ever Maybell School Elk Bugling and Camo Contest. More than a dozen boys and girls participated in Maybell, located in northwest Colorado about 200 miles straight west of Fort Collins.

“Students have to use their own voice. They are just about as good as the adults,” added Stubblefield.
