Elk NetworkRMEF Volunteers, Fellow Hunters Remove Discarded Tires from Oregon Forest

General | March 17, 2021

Below is a Facebook post from the Oregon Hunters Association–Yamhill County.

On March 13th OHA-YC members teamed up with the USFS Hebo Office, the Oregon State Police, Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, and members of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to remove 463 tires off public lands in the Nestucca River drainage. 463 tires!

In total 12 vehicles and 18 agency employees and volunteers collected the tires and transported them to Les Schwab’s Tillamook location. The USFS paid to dispose of the tires and Les Schwab’s made a trailer available to the team to stack them in.

Many thanks to the volunteers who came out today and gave their free time on a sunny Saturday. Not only was it a good deed, but these types of publicly generated clean-ups going along way towards maintaining access to our public lands.
