A woman who responded to the scene of a mountain lion attack became a victim herself after the animal pounced on her, knocked her to the ground and bit into her. It happened in Loveland, Colorado, about 50 miles north of Denver.
“I could’ve died. That literally was a fight for my life. It was either kill or be killed,” Michelle Ross, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputy, told KCNC-TV. “Within two seconds it went from underneath the trailer to on my shoulder where I got bit.”
Ross was one of several law enforcement personnel on hand in response after that same lion jumped on a man nearby. Luckily, a UPS driver saw it happen, jumped out of his truck and hit the animal with a board causing it to run off.
After the mountain lion attacked Ross, wildlife officers shot and killed it. Subsequent testing shows the animal had rabies. Ross and the man received treatment for both rabies and their injuries.
