Rival bull elk are not the only creatures that need to keep their heads on a swivel during mating season. So do golfers.
A man in Evergreen, Colorado, about 30 miles west of Denver, ended up in the hospital after a bull charged his golf cart and gored him, stabbing him in the stomach. The antler split Zak Bornhoft’s kidney in half.
“The doctor told me three inches either way we wouldn’t be sitting here. He said it would have been better to have been stabbed with a knife because of the dirt on the elk antlers,” Megan Bornhoft, Zak’s wife, told KDVR-TV.
Bull elk often battle with each other during the rut for the right to mate with cow elk.
