Elk NetworkElk Poached in Idaho

General | April 3, 2019

Authorities need your help finding the person(s) responsible for illegally killing a bull elk in east-central Idaho. It happened four months after the end of hunting season off the road on the East Fork of Tower Creek north of Salmon.

“Based on the condition of the carcass, the elk was likely shot sometime during the week of March 18th,” said Matt Sheppard, Idaho Department of Fish and Game conservation officer. “Someone in addition to the poacher knows about this case and we’d like to talk with them.”

Sheppard says the perpetrator(s) removed the head but left the entire  carcass to rot. During the investigation he also determined a 5×5 and a 6×6 bull elk were seen in the same area.
