Authorities near the small British Columbia community of Powell River are investigating the poaching of a bull and cow elk. It happened near Haslam Lake about 115 miles northwest of Vancouver in southwest B.C.

An investigation by the British Columbia Conservation Officer Service shows someone shot and killed the two animals and left the meat to waste sin a ditch on the Giavanno Main industrial road ometime between October 6 and 7.

The area is a popular one for hunting and other forms of recreation so authorities are seeking any information they can get from the public to aid the investigation. If you have any information, call 1-877-952-7277.

For 2022, Fiocchi partnered with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to increase the visibility of poaching incidents in an effort to reduce poaching nationwide.
