General | October 25, 2019

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Police need your help tracking down the man responsible for poaching a bull elk in Kittitas County.

Authorities say a man approached another, admitted to “accidentally” shooting an elk and asked if he would help field dress it. The witness declined, left and called 911 to report the location and suspect description.

Officers arrived to find the bull completely covered with tree limbs and stumps. They dressed the animal in order to save some of the meat which they donated to a local mission.

The suspect is described as a male in his 30s, about 5’7” and with a trimmed goatee. He was wearing hunter camo top and bottom, an orange beanie, Cabela’s backpack and carried a black or brown rifle.
