Elk NetworkElk Season Underway in Pennsylvania

General | November 7, 2018

Ross Hunsinger put in for a Pennsylvania elk tag each and every year for a decade. When he was luckily enough to be drawn, he took full advantage by taking an 8 x 7 bull elk. Hunsinger was one of many hunters who unveiled their animals at a check station in Benezette.

Over the six-day season, biologists from the Pennsylvania Game Commission at the check station collect samples from each elk to test for Chronic Wasting Disease. They also return to the site of each elk kill to make sure the elk was taken legally.
