The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), like the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and other organizations, is extremely concerned with chronic wasting disease (CWD) and how it is spread across the landscape. In partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service and state fish and wildlife agencies, the USGS recently released a new CWD fact sheet.

Among other things, it includes an overview, maps out its spread and highlights research aimed at learning more about the disease.

Go here to see the new USGS document in its entirety.

CWD is a progressive fatal nervous system disease known to infect white tailed deer, mule deer, elk, moose and reindeer.
