Mating season is a time for dominant bucks to show off their strength and defend their territory. Sometimes, those confrontations lead to deadly results. But sometimes they don’t, too. That’s exactly what happened in southeast Nebraska.

Deputy Dennis Guthard captured video of two whitetail bucks locked up after a duel. He worked with members of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to rope the exhausted deer, cut off one of their antlers with a tree saw and then set them both free.
