GEORGIA
Kudos to the Atlanta Chapter!

Recently the Atlanta Chapter decided to try something new when the entire committee became members of a newly formed Donations Committee. Each member took an item and sent out a donation request letter to a prospective donor. They followed that up with a phone call. The result? More than 90 items were donated to the 2011 big game banquet—including this complete deer camp from Bass Pro Shops. The event netted $34,780—a 62 percent net to gross! After the banquet, the committee sent thank you notes to each donor, many of which have committed to donating again in 2012.

MISSISSIPPI

Congratulations to the North Mississippi Chapter!

The North Mississippi Chapter in Olive Branch ramped it up a notch this year with every committee member striking out to round up cash underwriting donations for their 2011 big game banquet. The chapter succeeded in getting the entire meal and many catalog items underwritten, netting $13,300—a 59 percent net to gross. In addition, 87 people attended the banquet—double the amount in 2010.

NEW MEXICO

Bill Kenney—New Regional Director for New Mexico

Bill Kenney, former regional director for Kansas/Nebraska, and his wife made the tough decision last year to leave the RMEF in order to be closer to their sons. In a stroke of luck, the New Mexico regional director position opened up, and the RMEF was glad to bring Kenney back. “Never did we believe that we would have a chance to come back and still be relatively close to our sons,” he says, adding, “We are both quite excited and appreciate this opportunity.” Kenney started his new position on September 12.
